For the second straight week, New England quarterback Tom Brady passed for over 400 yards, as did Cam Newton, one of the sport's rising stars, while the Pittsburgh Steelers blanked the Seattle Seahawks to make up for their shock defeat last week.
The Packers scored 23 unanswered points after trailing 13-0 early in the second quarter before quarterback Aaron Rodgers sealed the win with an 84-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson.
Carolina (0-2) rookie quarterback Newton threw for 432 yards and one touchdown to extend his incredible start to his NFL career but was also intercepted three times in his

Forget how it happened, at least for a moment. The hotshot rookie receiver beefing with the jacked-up veteran running back makes for juicy drama but for the purposes of the following point, it’s irrelevant.
This is about football. All that matters is that the only significant development so far during the Chiefs’ preseason is the deepening of first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin’s diva reputation and the cast extending from his right hand toward his elbow.
He will watch his second straight preseason game out of uniform tonight, left only with his thoughts and what must be frustration about how his career

A half-hour before the NFL draft began, the fans at Radio City Music Hall were chanting “we want football” and catcalling commissioner Roger Goodell with rounds and rounds of boos.
It was a fitting start to, quite possibly, the most bizarre NFL draft ever; a perfectly symbolic moment for one of the most unsettled moments in the league’s proud history. And things didn’t slow down from there.
The No. 1 pick (Cam Newton(notes)) was virtually unheard of a year ago, when he completed 3 of 8 passes in the Auburn spring game to win the starting job. The No. 2

As a reliever, Brian Boucher has two wins in this series. As a starter, he has a win and a loss and an early hook that resulted in no decision.
And now the Philadelphia Flyers' utterly bizarre goaltending carousel has swung back to Boucher again. The 34-year-old stopped 24 of 25 shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime triumph that kept the defending Eastern Conference champions alive and forced Game Seven against the Buffalo Sabres.
Flyers coach Peter Laviolette, who normally guards information better than most government agencies, had a big smile for reporters when asked who will be in the crease

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in double overtime last night off of a James Neal goal. This puts the series at 3-1, in the Penguins favor, one win away from advancing to the next round.
They have almost made it out of the first round without Sidney Crosby, but fans are wondering how much longer the Penguins can go without their captain.
Twitter was a buzz today with rumors surfacing that Crosby was cleared for contact and would return soon. However, Head Coach Dan Bylsma laid those to rest this morning by saying that Crosby has not

A couple of months ago, I wrote about where Pitt's trio of seniors, Brad Wanamaker, Gary McGhee, and Gilbert Brown, stood in regards to the NBA Draft.
I haven't seen much change since then - all three are still expected to go in the second round to undrafted. All three discussed some of their thoughts on the draft recently.
Wanamaker may have the most work to do as John Grupp of the Trib-Review says he could need to move to point guard to find an NBA home:
Wanamaker needs to show NBA scouts he can play point guard. He was

It is getting to be about that time. All of the information is in. Almost all of the visits are done, and there is little left, but the fine tuning and little tweaks of draft boards.
That means it is time for me to get out my final (unless I post another) mock draft. Now I have to stress that this version is who I think they should take, and not who I think they will take. I am going to break this up into sections over the next few days. So, without further ado, here are my choices for

There have been plenty of bad performances over the course of sports history and the NFL is no exception.
This list will look at some of the worst of the worst that covered an entire season, and you will see that some of the biggest offenders have been teams and quarterbacks.
One team seems to be more prevalent than the rest when it comes to individual NFL futility but plenty of different teams are represented.
Here are the 20 most pathetic single season. performances in NFL history
In less than three months, Derrick Williams could be wearing the wine-and-gold of LeBron's old team. He may be thrown to the Timberwolves. Or exported to Toronto.
Then again, maybe he'll become an Anaheim King, joining a possibly relocated franchise in the same Honda Center where he elevated his NBA draft stock even further into the stratosphere with a near-perfect first half against Duke last month.
A new home is not the only uncertainty now facing Williams, who announced Wednesday he is forgoing his final two years of eligibility with the Arizona Wildcats to enter the June NBA draft.

It's not the MVP vote that keeps me from finishing my NBA awards ballot; that might be the easiest selection of all. It's Derrick Rose, and we'll get back to him later. Coach of the year in the NBA is another story, the category that will cause some anxiety if you take these exercises seriously, and I do.
You can make a persuasive case for at least a half-dozen coaches and the work they've done this season, from a future Hall of Famer to a rookie. Doug Collins deserves a nod for taking a 76ers team that went 27-55
